Personalised Immunotherapy in Sepsis:
a precision medicine approach

Centre Hospitalier Universitaire Vaudois

— CHUV —

The CHUV is one of the five university hospitals of Switzerland. The CHUV is a public non-profit institution dedicated to the improvement of human health through patient care, research and education/training. The Infectious Diseases (ID) Service is part of the department of medicine. It provides care for inpatients (4,500-5,000 hospitalisation days per year) and outpatients. The ID service collaborates closely with all medical specialties of CHUV, including immunology, clinical microbiology, hospital hygiene, emergency and adult intensive care medicine. Over the years, it was involved in numerous sepsis clinical trials and translational research programs related to the epidemiology, diagnosis, prevention and treatment of infections in critically ill and intensive care unit patients. Our research laboratory has a long lasting research interest in host defences, innate immunity and sepsis. Research expertise includes molecular and cell biology, experimental animal models of infection and immunogenetics.

Role within ImmunoSep

Our research efforts focus primarily on the ImmunoSep trial of personalised immunotherapy in patients with sepsis (work package 2). Other tasks include sample collection and integration into work packages 3 and 4 for multi-omics characterisation of sepsis patients and development of theranostic tools. Finally, CHUV will be involved in work package 1 (project management and scientific coordination), work package 5 (future integration into national health systems) and work package 6 (dissemination and innovation management).
